Permafrost Pathways joined thousands of attendees—including scientists, policymakers, Indigenous leaders and representatives, Arctic youth, and academics—from over 70 countries in Reykjavík, Iceland Oct. 19-21 for Arctic Circle Assembly (ACA) 2023. The annual meeting brings together the international Arctic community to discuss the region’s priorities and future in the midst of climate change.

From scientific panels to the Arctic Innovation Lab, Permafrost Pathways partners from Woodwell Climate Research Center (Woodwell Climate) and the Arctic Initiative at Harvard Kennedy School (Arctic Initiative) participated in several sessions and events this year. Senior Scientist at Woodwell Climate and Permafrost Pathways Project Lead Dr. Sue Natali also moderated a widely attended panel about climate justice and the importance of community observations in permafrost monitoring.
